Accessibility Statement for Bramhall Parish Church

Bramhall Parish Church is committed to making our website accessible and welcoming to as many people as possible, including people with disabilities and those using assistive technologies.

We want everyone to be able to find information about our church, worship, activities, venue hire and community life as easily as possible.

Using this website

We have designed this website with accessibility in mind. In particular, we aim to:

  • use clear and consistent page layouts;

  • use headings in a logical order;

  • provide good colour contrast between text and backgrounds;

  • use readable text sizes and spacing;

  • provide meaningful link text;

  • add alternative text to important images;

  • make the site usable by keyboard as well as by mouse or touchscreen;

  • provide captions or alternative information where appropriate for video and audio content; and

  • ensure the website works reasonably well across desktop, tablet and mobile devices.

The website is built using Squarespace, which includes a number of accessibility features such as keyboard focus indicators, a skip-to-content link and support for semantic page structures. Squarespace Help

We use the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA as our benchmark when developing and reviewing the website. Gov.uk

How accessible is this website?

We are continuing to review and improve the accessibility of the website as it is developed and updated.

There may be some areas that are not fully accessible. These may include:

  • older PDF documents or downloadable files;

  • older images which do not yet have sufficiently descriptive alternative text;

  • content embedded from third-party services;

  • video or audio content for which captions or transcripts are not yet available; and

  • older pages created before the current website design and accessibility standards were introduced.

We are working to improve these areas as content is reviewed or replaced.

Video and moving content

Where we use video or animation, we aim to avoid unnecessary movement and to provide appropriate controls where possible.

Where video contains important spoken information, we aim to provide captions, a transcript or equivalent information elsewhere on the page.

Documents

Some documents available through the website may be supplied as PDFs or other downloadable formats.

We aim to make new documents as accessible as reasonably possible. Some older documents may not meet current accessibility standards.

If you need information from a document in a different format, please contact us.

If you need information in another format

If you have difficulty accessing anything on this website, or need information in an alternative format, please contact us.

Reporting an accessibility problem

If you find an accessibility problem with the website that is not mentioned on this page, please let us know.

Contact the church office using the details above and tell us:

  • which page you were using;

  • what problem you experienced; and

  • if possible, what device, browser or assistive technology you were using.

This helps us investigate and improve the website.

How we test accessibility

Accessibility is considered as part of the ongoing design and development of the website.

This includes reviewing colour contrast, text size, headings, links, images, mobile layouts and keyboard navigation.

The website has not currently undergone an independent professional accessibility audit, so we do not claim that every page is fully compliant with WCAG 2.2 AA.

Review of this statement
