Christmas is a time for giving and in these difficult times we want to support three great causes through the generosity of giving.

The Causes we are Supporting

The Children’s Society

The Children’s Society is a national charity working to transform the hopes and happiness of young people facing abuse, exploitation and neglect. This includes supporting young people through their most serious life challenges whilst campaigning tirelessly for the big social changes that will improve the lives of those who need hope most.

We raise funds for The Children’s Society every year through our Christingle Service, which sadly wont be happening in its normal format this year.

Chelwood Foodbank Plus

They have been serving Stockport since 2013, providing urgent practical support to local people. In 2019, they issued 1537 food parcels and fed 2,023 adults and 1091 children.

Everything they do is made possible by a team of wonderful volunteers. Without these amazing souls we truly could not function. There is a place for everybody to use their strengths and gifts here in the foodbank family.

Hampers for Brinnington

The Church of England is an organisation made up of 12,382 parishes. Wherever you go in England you are within a Church of England Parish. These parishes can be ranked according to all sorts of different data.

When using socio-economic data, the parish of Bramhall is ranked 12,208 in terms of deprivation where number 1 is the most deprived parish in the country. This means Bramhall Parish is amongst the wealthiest parishes in the country.

The Parish of Stockport and Brinnington, around 10 minutes drive away from Bramhall is ranked 121 in terms of deprivation meaning they are considered one of the poorest parishes in the whole country.

How you can Help

The Children’s Society

There are two ways you can support the Children’s Society through our Christmas Appeal. The first is by donating through our Children’s Society donation page. This allows our donations to go straight to the Children’s Society but means we can keep track of how much has been raised. You can get to our Donation Page by following the link below.

The second way is by sponsoring Revd Calum is his attempt to run 10km every day during Advent. He will be posting updates on our website, and you can sponsor him through his justgiving page which can be found on the link below.

Chelwood Foodbank Plus

You can donate essential food items as well as Christmas treats to the foodbank by dropping them off at St. Michaels Church or the Vicarage all the way through December.

On top of this we are encouraging people to put a box next to their advent calendar and place something into every day of December, so that by Christmas Eve you have a box full of food for the foodbank.

These boxes can then be dropped off at St. Michael’s on Christmas Eve and we will take them over to the foodbank at Chelwood.

Hampers for Brinnington

We want to create and gift to the Parish of Stockport 30 Christmas Hampers that can be shared with the families most in need in that community.

We have put together a suggested list of what can go in these hampers which you can download below. There are two ways to help with the hampers, either donate a complete hamper, or bits that can be used to make up other hampers.

If you dont have a box or basket to put items in, please bring donations in a bag and we will sort that out.

Hampers can be dropped off at St. Michaels Church or the Vicarage next door up until Sunday 13th December, when we will then transport them over to Stockport for distribution in time for Christmas.
